Rolling along

Things are pleasant up in my world!

I visited the doctor recently and she was so nice to me I could cry. My recent blood tests came back confirming that not only do I have an autoimmune disorder (something I have suspected for years now), my cholesterol is also super high, almost certainly because of said disorder. I explained that diet changes aren't feasible for me right now, so we agreed I'd work on exercising and then go on meds if that doesn't work out.

So I got a two-in-one rollator and transport chair, which has - as I predicted - completely changed my life around.

The only problem is that one of the wheels arrived broken. THANKS AMAZON! Paula duct taped it at my request while we wait for a replacement to come in, but she's been nervous about it all day.

Other than that? I went to Costco today and one of the ladies handing out samples said "You look taller today!" (a joke because I am normally in a wheelchair) and gave me TWO free bottles of the drink she was sampling. Then I went to Goodwill and Lucas got an adorable beanie baby (Speckles the e-Bear, if you want to look him up online). Then I went to the library and walked around. Then I went to the park and walked around. All of this was unimaginable for me a year ago. But here I am!

It's actually only just yesterday that I had a pretty major depressive episode, but I bounced back from it just fine, instead of doing my usual languishing.

I've been doing a lot of reading about handheld emulation recently, after seeing another disabled person on Tumblr talking about how it helped them a lot to have dedicated "play time". Lucas offered to let me use his jailbroken Nintendo 3DS, which I've already put Retroarch and DaedulusX64 on. And I forgot how nice of a console the 3DS is! I never had one of these "New" 3DSes with the stronger computer power and the C-stick, so that's been cool too. I might even play some Animal Crossing New Leaf again. AND it's Halloween season on Tower Unite so I've been playing Tower Unite again. VIDEO GAMES
